Garden and Grounds Assistant
Salary £24,500 (FTE), £9,800 (Actual)

The Prince of Wales Hospice is looking for a dedicated Garden & Grounds Assistant to join our Estates and Facilities team. Our gardens provide peaceful, therapeutic spaces for patients, families, visitors and staff, and play an important role in the overall Hospice environment.
You’ll lead on general gardening duties, ensure the grounds are safe and welcoming, and support a team of dedicated garden volunteers. Working closely with our Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll also help recruit and onboard new volunteers.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Experience in gardening and grounds maintenance
Knowledge of safe use of gardening tools and equipment
Understanding of Health & Safety in outdoor work
Good organisational and time management skills
Ability to prioritise tasks and work independently
NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent experience
A proactive, flexible approach aligned with Hospice values
Experience supervising or supporting volunteers (desirable)
