Casual Retail Assistant
Salary: £23,950 (FTE), £12.25 per hour
Hours: Bank (flexible, as and when required)
Location: The Prince of Wales Hospice Retail Shops within The 5 Towns Area

Our retail shops play a vital role in raising funds to support the care provided by The Prince of Wales Hospice. We are looking for enthusiastic and customer focused individuals to join us as Casual Retail Shop Assistants to join our bank of casual workers. This is a varied, hands-on role where you will help maximise shop income, while delivering excellent customer service and supporting our local community.

About the Role

Working alongside the Shop Manager, you will help ensure the smooth and effective running of the shop. Duties will include:

Operating the till and following correct cash handling procedures

Delivering excellent customer service at all times

Promoting Gift Aid and encouraging donations

Sorting and preparing donated goods for sale, including some heavy lifting

Ensuring merchandise is attractively displayed to optimise sales

Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and presentation

Adhering to safe working practices and all Hospice policies

You will work either on the shop floor or in the stock room, helping to ensure the shop remains safe, welcoming and well stocked.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will:

Have retail experience and strong customer service and communication skills

Be able to merchandise stock effectively and handle donations

Be friendly, flexible, and able to work independently

Be willing to work across multiple locations local to the Hospice

Be confident supporting and training volunteers, where appropriate

Share the values of and be committed to supporting the work of the Hospice.

This bank role offers flexibility and hours to suit your availability.

Successful candidates will be added to our ‘bank’ list of workers.  As such you will not be an employee of the Hospice but from time to time we may call upon you to work for us to provide cover. Inclusion on our ‘bank’ list does not affect your right to work elsewhere and to be listed on other casual work lists without hindrance. Any offer of work is made purely at the discretion of the Hospice, and the Hospice is under no obligation to offer further work in the future.
